Dental implants are the most durable and natural solution for replacing missing teeth. At Tøyen Tannlegevakt, we use modern implant techniques to give you a lasting and functional result.
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is inserted into the jawbone and acts as an artificial tooth root. After the implant has fused with the bone, a crown is attached on top that looks and functions like a natural tooth. Implants can replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or support a full denture.
Who can get dental implants?
Most adults in good general health can get dental implants. Prerequisites include:
- Sufficient bone mass in the jaw (can potentially be built up)
- Healthy gums without active gum disease
- Fully developed jaw (usually from age 18)
- Non-smoker (smoking increases the risk of complications)
The dentist will perform a thorough examination with x-rays to assess whether implants are right for you.
The treatment process
Implant treatment usually takes place in several steps:
- Consultation: Examination, x-rays and treatment plan.
- Implantation: The titanium screw is inserted into the jawbone under local anaesthesia. The procedure takes 30–60 minutes per implant.
- Healing period: The implant fuses with the bone over 3–6 months.
- Crown stage: After healing, the permanent crown is attached to the implant.
Dental implant price
Prices for dental implants at Tøyen Tannlegevakt:
- Implant including crown: from 25,000,-
- Bone augmentation (if necessary): from 5,000,-
The price depends on complexity, number of implants and any additional treatments.
Healing time and follow-up
After implant placement, the bone needs 3–6 months to fuse around the titanium screw. During this period, you can use a temporary solution. Most patients experience only mild tenderness for the first few days, easily managed with painkillers.
Implant maintenance
Dental implants require the same care as natural teeth: daily brushing, flossing and regular dental check-ups. With good oral hygiene, an implant can last a lifetime. The dentist will recommend an individual maintenance plan tailored to your situation.
